Read our letter below, you could join in if you like!
Dear Parent / Carer,
At the Eco Warriors meeting last week the children decided to take up a plastic saving challenge. The children agreed to collect any waste plastic packaging from home and put it into a plastic bottle, please see the picture below. I used a 1.5 litre drinks bottle, washed out.
The sort of plastic waste which you need to fill it with is crisp packets, food packaging, sweet wrappers etc... This plastic in unable to be recycled and ends up in landfill or in rivers which flow into our seas.
As your child fills up their bottle, keep squashing the plastic down inside so it is tightly packed. I used a wooden spoon handle to do this as the plastic needs to be packed down, you’ll be amazed how much you can get in. Count how many days it takes you to fill your bottle and then please send it into school with their name on.
If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
The newly elected Eco Warriors met for the first time this year on October 4th. We discussed ideas for projects about how St Pauls could become more friendly to the environment. Reducing plastic use was talked about as well as other ideas. We are meeting again at the beginning of next half term to plan our projects for the year and get started.
