At St.Pauls we follow the Red Rose phonics programme. This is how we learn to read and spell. We learn the sounds in phases. At the same time we learn some tricky words, which are to be learnt on sight.

In phase four we learn to read and spell harder words with adjacent consonants such as;
brown, tent, string, chimpanzee and shampoo
Tricky words: said, there, little, one, when, out, what, it's, like, so, do, some, come, were
